RE: Coronavirus COVID-19 Potential Impact on UA Meetings and Members
As a precaution against spreading the Coronavirus (COVID-19) administrators of churches, health care facilities, and other spaces have canceled 12-Step meetings and are closed for an
unspecified length of time. As a result, face-to-face meetings have been greatly impacted. Members are wondering whether they should proactively suspend face-to-face meetings or not.
The UA General Service Board cannot offer guidance on the group’s decision nor health issues, as this is outside the scope of what the Board can advise on.
All groups are autonomous, and must decide for themselves the best course of action to take regarding the health and safety of the group. However, we do suggest contacting your local,
state/provincial and national health professionals for accurate information, this will aid in helping the group make an informed decision.
If your meeting is canceled, the group may want to consider other ways to meet remotely either by phone or Internet. You can make updates to your meeting listing on the world U.A. website at
Some options for setting up remote meetings at their regular meeting time might include using
the following:
• Free conference calling services
• Free video tele-conferencing platforms
• Cell Phone apps
• Social Media
Furthermore, we recommend that you contact your local U.A. Intergroup (if you have one) about meeting changes. They serve as a useful source of continuous updated meeting information. Members can also announce their updated meeting information through text messaging, making announcements on phone meetings, and asking members in general to pass the word around.
In addition, UnderearnersAnonymous.org has an abundance of phone meetings already in place. Please visit our Phone Meetings page to find them.
We will get through this global pandemic and recover together.
Peace, blessings and unity,
UA G.S.O.
