World Service Conference Planning Meeting
Friday October 10 at 130 PAC, 430 EST.
The WSC Planning Committee subgroups should send any draft motions your group is working on to Susan T. at Susan@uagsb.org by October 5.
The Committee met on September 19 with 32 participants, including 17 GSRs. We had robust, respectful discussion and careful review of materials—thank you to everyone for your thoughtful service. The Board will also share World Service Conference updates later in today’s public meeting. Over the past months, the Committee has worked diligently on turning the UA groups’ Topics of Consideration into draft motions to forward to the GSB, so they can be brought to the Fellowship for decision by the collective group conscience—expressed through the votes of all GSRs.
One of these draft motions addresses the first Topic of Consideration: reunification. The motion reads: “Motion that the UA GSB World Service Conference direct the UA General Service Board to initiate and actively pursue a formal process of reunification with the WeAreAllUA service body, with the goal of restoring one unified UA fellowship and service structure, inclusive of all UA meetings and members worldwide.”
A dedicated subgroup prepared this draft, and at the September 19 meeting the full Committee was invited to comment. Comments were collected and carefully considered until no further feedback remained. Based on comments, there will likely be a revision of the draft motion I just read.
Additional items in progress include:
• Two draft literature motions which I will read.
Literature Motion 1
Motion that the UA World Service Conference consider for approval all literature submitted by the GSB Literature Committee as ready for consideration in 2025, including but not limited to the Action Group Pamphlet, the ProsperiTeam Lite Handbook, and the Original ProsperiTeam materials from 2016; and further, that the General Service Board ensure all Conference-approved literature, past and present, is posted on the official UA website within 60 days of Conference approval.
Motion that the UA World Service Conference direct the General Service Board to ensure that all current and future Conference-approved literature includes a clear statement of the Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions of Underearners Anonymous, either in full text or by reference, in a manner consistent across all publications.
Next, a relisting motion I will read: “Motion that the UA GSB Board re-list previously dropped UA meetings, with the stipulation that they contribute regularly to the GSB and do not solicit donations for any other organizations, except for sending GSRs to the World Service Conference.”
And finally, a bylaws motion: “Motion to update and ratify the UA bylaws and 12 Concepts.”
Revised motions will be set for Committee discussion and vote on October 10.
The WSC Committee will also be soliciting volunteers for event planning. If you can donate 4 hours of service per month between meetings, please come to the Oct 10 meeting and volunteer (or contact Jeff.) Thank you for your service.
THE END
